Annapolis artist Liz Lind lives
by one philosophy. It’s simply to paint vibrant and whimsical paintings that
make people feel happy. And it’s this pursuit that’s
made Lind, and her professional wall art, highly respected
and collected for more than 20 years.
“I believe that God has given me a precious
gift, and that is to make people feel happy and alive through my paintings.”
Perhaps this is why she was named the 2006 Best Visual
Artist of Annapolis, a prestigious honor awarded to a truly talented
artist. Lind, who has been trained in classical painting, considers
her style to be expressionistic in nature.
“Like lots of artists, I’ve come to a point
where I want to express things in their simplest forms. I like to express
energy and movement, and I think that comes through in my work. People
can feel something when they look at a piece. You can tell that I am
not interested in exact representation, but more interested in how a
person feels when they look at my work”.
Her pieces are not just crafts of fine professional
wall art. More so, they are expressions of her raw,
creative energy and childlike imagination. Liz sees the world
through the eyes of a child…beautiful and undefiled. From
sailboats to florals, and seascapes to landscapes—her subjects
continue to change based on her curiosity and life long examination
of her surroundings.
Through textured mixed abstracts of
Caribbean blue seas and bright yellow suns, she shows people that every
day is a bright, sunny day chocked full of promise.
“There’s too much doom and gloom in the news. Look
around and you’ll see that we’ve got plenty of things to
be happy about.”
Her work takes us back to a time when we were happy with
life’s simplest pleasures…the wind blowing through our hair,
the smell of an ocean breeze mixed with French fries and cotton candy,
the feeling of sand between our toes…. Through her watercolor
seascape paintings you absorb the blue of the water, feel the
warmth of the sun and recapture the sheer joy of days gone by.
